How Rugged Rookie Began

Back in 2020, I was where you might be right now. I loved the idea of rugged style but had no clue where to start. It all changed with a pair of Red Wing boots and flipping through The Heritage Post. That’s when it clicked—I dove headfirst into this world and never looked back.
But I had questions. How do you tell which brands make gear worth investing in? What should a timeless wardrobe actually look like? And how do you make rugged style work, whether you’re in the great outdoors or navigating city life?
That’s why I started Rugged Rookie. First, it was just an Instagram page where I documented my own learning curve. Over time, a community started growing—today, 47,000 strong and counting, proving I wasn’t the only one on this path.
Fast forward to 2024, after a much-needed nine-month break from social media, Rugged Rookie evolved into something bigger. I discovered that rugged style wasn’t just about the clothes.
